News 4 August 2025Ronald Slaats Appointed Group Managing Director at Zweegers Equipment Group

Apeldoorn, 4 August 2025 – As of 1 August 2025, Ronald Slaats has taken on the role of Group Managing Director of Zweegers Equipment Group B.V. (ZWEQ), a supplier of machinery and equipment for agriculture and several other sectors. His appointment marks the next step in the company's growth and the strengthening of its leadership team.

In his new role, Slaats will assume daily management of the entire group and will report directly to Gerrit van der Scheer, who will serve as Executive Chairman of the Management Board. In this position, Van der Scheer will focus on the company’s strategic direction and further growth through acquisitions.


International Expansion

In recent years, Slaats has made his mark as CEO of Mechan International, a subsidiary of ZWEQ. In that capacity, he was responsible for the successful international expansion into Canada and Italy. He led the integration of AgWest and the expansion of Canadian operations, as well as the acquisitions and integrations of Agri Verde and Busato in Italy. He also played a key role in consolidating activities in Northern Italy.


“With his broad international experience, strong network within the sector, and excellent relationships with strategic suppliers, Slaats is uniquely qualified to lead ZWEQ into its next phase of growth,” said Van der Scheer. Prior to joining Mechan International, Slaats held various executive positions, including CEO of De Meeuw Group and CEO of De Lage Landen International. “That experience at internationally renowned companies provides a solid foundation for his new role at ZWEQ.”Slaats commented: “I look forward to working with the entire ZWEQ team to further expand this great company.”


About Zweegers Equipment Group (ZWEQ)

Equipment supplier Zweegers Equipment Group (ZWEQ) as founded in 2022 by Frank Zweegers and Gerrit van der Scheer, Executive Chairman of the Management Board, both of whom have a deep-rooted affinity with agricultural machinery. Zweegers' grandfather founded P J Zweegers en Zonen (later PZ) in 1937, and Van der Scheer has spent his entire career in the agricultural mechanisation sector.


The group supplies, among other things, tractors powered by HVO (non-fossil diesel) and electric tractors, specialised machines and precision farming equipment. It also provides machine maintenance and aftermarket parts distribution. In addition, the group supplies robotic systems for agriculture as well as light earthmoving equipment and machines for construction, infrastructure and green maintenance, such as horizontal directional drilling systems for laying fibre optic cables. Zweegers Equipment Group operates in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Denmark, Italy and Canada.
